A True Story from the Heart of SCHC’s Prison Ministry Project
The Boy Who Lost His Mother – And His Way
Ravi (name changed for privacy) lost his mother when he was still in his teens. The emptiness that followed shaped much of his young life. His father, a quiet and loving man, gave him everything he could — good clothes, a fair education, and unconditional love. But like many who do not yet understand the cost of sacrifice, Ravi mistook love for freedom.
He drifted toward careless friendships, endless spending, and moments of pleasure that slowly turned into habits of waste. His father’s earnings disappeared in the name of friendship, and those who enjoyed his company in good times vanished when his pockets emptied.
A Short-Lived Family and a Shattered Dream
In his twenties, Ravi married and became a father himself. For a brief time, he seemed to have found direction — a home, a child, and purpose. But that peace didn’t last long.
Disagreements grew, and soon the marriage ended. Ravi paid nearly all his earnings as alimony, and what was left of him — inside and out — was empty.
Loneliness led him to alcohol. What started as relief turned into addiction. His debts multiplied, and with them, his despair. Those he trusted most walked away. A small act of recklessness during this dark period landed him in prison.
A Ray of Hope – SCHC Steps In
Behind bars, Ravi’s life hit rock bottom. Shame, regret, and silence surrounded him. But in that hopeless place, a new chapter began.
It was through the Prison Ministry Project of Sathkriya Community Healing Center (SCHC) that Ravi’s story began to turn. The project provided not only legal assistance to help him come out of prison, but also counselling, emotional support, and faith-based encouragement.
SCHC didn’t just open the prison door — it opened a door back into life.
Life After Prison – A Struggle, Yet Not Alone
Freedom wasn’t easy. Ravi stepped into a world that had forgotten him.
He never got the chance to meet his son. Friends disappeared. Relatives rejected him. With no money and no one to turn to, he now looks after his aged father — the same man who once looked after him with unconditional love.
Ravi has tried hard to rebuild his life and find steady work, but opportunities remain scarce. Still, through regular counselling, mentorship, and spiritual guidance at SCHC, he is slowly regaining confidence, faith, and dignity.
The Story Still Being Written
Ravi’s journey is far from over. His scars are still healing, his steps still uncertain — but he’s not walking alone anymore.
At SCHC, we believe no person is beyond redemption. With the right care, compassion, and community, every broken story can still find a hopeful ending.
If you can help or connect us with resources, job opportunities, or livelihood support for Ravi, please reach out to Sathkriya Community Healing Center (SCHC).
Together, we can help him rebuild his life, restore his dignity, and remind him that even after everything — grace still writes the final line.
